A man, stated to be a supporter of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), was shot dead in Binpur near the Lalgarh area of West Bengal’s Paschim Medinipur district on Sunday only a few hours after supporters of the party took out a procession in the Midnapore-Sadar area protesting against attacks on CPI (M) workers.
The death occurred at 7.30 p.m. when unidentified miscreants fired indiscriminately at the victim’s shop, the District Superintendent of Police Manoj Verma told The Hindu over telephone.
