The Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) will purchase about 1,900 MW of power daily from three subsidiary units of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) from 2012, official sources said on Saturday.

A purchase agreement to this effect was signed by the BSEB on Friday with Kanti Bijli Utpadan Nigam Ltd, the Nabinagar Power Generating Company Private Ltd and the Bharti Railway Bijli Company Ltd -- joint venture companies of NTPC, sources said.

The agreement would be implemented in a phased manner from 2012, they said.

Under the agreement the state would purchase 1,900 MW additional power from these units on an average everyday, they said.
