The NDA and Left sponsored Bharat Bandh to protest fuel price hike on Monday evoked mixed response in Jammu and Kashmir as transport services were affected in some parts of the state.

In Jammu, market places and business units were closed and traffic disrupted only in the old city.

BJP activists took out a car and motorcycle rallies in the city amid tight security and raised slogans demanding reduction in fuel prices.

In the valley, traffic went off the roads in Kathua district where total bandh was observed, officials said.

Partial bandh was observed in Udhampur, Samba and Reasi districts of Jammu region but there was little response to the call in Doda, Ramban, Rajouri and Poonch districts, they added.

“The bandh was observed in Jammu region and it was peaceful,” BJP spokesman Ramesh Arora told reporters here.

“There was no untoward incident reported from any where in the region during the bandh,” police.
