Beheaded body of a young man, found on Sunday night in a canal near Rohtak, 200 kms from here, has sparked another honour killing row.
The deceased has been identified as Vikas from Panipat. His father, an employee of the State irrigation department, has alleged that Vikas has been killed at the behest of his beloved’s family, who did not approve of their alliance.
Few days after the first ever conviction in a case of honour killing led to death sentence for the accused, all of whom were relatives of the girl's family from a backward village in Haryana, Vikas's father alleges that his son too is a victim of the same evil.
He claimed that his son has been killed at the behest of the girl’s family, who did not approve of their relationship. He added that previously they had been threatened by the girl's family to leave Panipat and that they even got Vikas booked in a fake theft case.
The deceased’s father blamed the police for not taking any action against the girl’s family, even though his son had been missing for the last 15 days. Meanwhile the police refused to comment on the details and said that raids are on to catch the accused.
