Life in Baramulla town remained crippled for the third consecutive day today as people defied prohibitory orders and clashed with police after a 12-year-old boy died allegedly in police action.
Total nine persons including two two policemen were wounded.
Scores of people defied prohibitory orders and took to streets demanding stern action against the erring policemen who allegedly killed a 12-year-old youth in the town on Friday.
Raising pro-freedom slogans, the youth pelted stones on police who retaliated with lathi charge and tear gas shells.
Shops and business establishments remained closed.
Irfan Ahmad Lone was killed two days ago and four others were injured when police resorted to baton charge and fired teargas shells to quell a demonstration in the town to protest the continued house arrest of chairman of hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
Geelani was placed under house arrest at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar on September 9, a day after he was released on court orders after 95 days of imprisonment under Public Safety Act.
While police claimed that the boy died of a heart attack, locals allege that he was hit by a teargas shell on his head.
Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Lateef-e-Zeman Deva on Saturday ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
