As it happened: Tuki resigns, Khandu stakes claim, Governor yet to respond

In a fresh twist to the Arunachal Pradesh crisis, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki resigned on Saturday, a few hours ahead of the much-anticipated floor test. Pema Khandu, son of former Chief Minister Dorgee Khandu, >has been elected as the chief of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).

The Assembly now has an effective strength of 58 in which the BJP has 11 and Independents 2. With Speaker Nabam Rebia and the return of dissidents, the Congress strength has gone up to 45.

The latest:

2 pm: Mr. Khandu says the Governor has not given any commitment yet as he told them that he has to go through records and process their claim.

“Right now the Governor has not commented [on their claim]. No time has been given for oath taking,” says Mr. Khandu.
