Apang remanded to judicial custody in PDS scam case

Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang has been remanded to judicial custody for two days by a special sessions court in connection with the multi-crore PDS scam case.

Mr. Apang, who ruled the State for 23 years in two phases as Congress leader, was arrested on August 24 for his alleged involvement in the scam. He was remanded to police custody for 14 days which expired yesterday.

The additional judge of the special sessions court at Lakhimpur shifted him to judicial custody yesterday.

While in judicial remand the Special Investigating Cell (SIC) will interrogate Mr. Apang as the medical board constituted by the State government to examine Mr. Apang declared him fit for giving statement. The investigating agency also interrogated him on Monday under medical supervision.
