Launching a scathing attack on Congress on ‘terror boat’ issue, Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah here on Tuesday said the grand-old party was confused whether it wants to fight election in India or in Pakistan.
“The BJP government-led intelligence agencies and security forces prevented a big suspected terrorist attack. I congratulate the Prime Minister, intelligence officers and Coast Guard on behalf of the BJP. When such a big attack was foiled, Congress party questions integrity of security forces. It gives a statement that whether there were terrorists inside the boat or not, they could be petty smugglers and it so happens that there might not be terrorists at all in the boat,” Mr. Shah said addressing a massive public meeting here.
“I feel Congress is confused whether it wants to fight elections in India or in Pakistan. If a party pleads for and gives statement in favour of any terrorist group, which was planning to attack the country, then the party needs to do introspection,” the BJP president maintained.
Mr. Shah said: “During UPA time, 11 Pakistani terrorists could reach Mumbai and carry out massacres. The whole country was infuriated. The then government could not prevent the attack. During this December 29 night, suspected terrorists from Pakistan made similar attempt, but Indian Coast Guard tracked their movement. They were forced to explode themselves along with the boat.”
“The spokespersons of Congress need to be told that at this juncture they should rise above party line and boost morale of the security personnel. I also want to tell Congress that when UPA was in power and jawans were fighting along the border, we used to encourage them,” he said.
