Six persons were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly beating and stripping three Dalit teenagers in Laxmipura village in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan.

The assailants suspected the boys of having stolen a motorcycle.

Three of the six arrested are Dalits, Superintendent of Police Prasanna Kumar Khamesara told The Hindu .

On April 2, a stolen motorcycle was allegedly found with the teenagers, aged 16-17, of the ‘Kanjar’ nomadic group. Thereafter, a mob at Laxmipura beat them up and stripped them naked.

“This is not the first time the three have been accused of theft. Cases of burglary and fighting had been registered against two of them earlier,” said Gaj Singh, Station House Officer of the Bassi police station.

The teenagers were detained on April 2 and an FIR against the attackers was filed at the Bassi police station the next day.
