20 dead, 10 injured in M.P. fire

Nearly two dozen workers were burnt alive when fire broke out at a cracker factory in Balaghat district on Wednesday afternoon.

According to district collector Bharat Yadav, the incident took place in Kheri village, which is nearly 10 km from the district headquarters.

“About 20 workers were killed and ten were injured in the incident. Eight of the injured persons have been sent to Nagpur for further treatment,” Mr. Yadav said.

The reasons that caused the fire is net yet known

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a compensation of ₹2 lakh each to the next kin of the deceased.
