Giving a major thrust to education in the backward Mewat region, the Mewat Development Board at its meeting here on Thursday earmarked Rs. 10.65 crore for development of education out of its total budget of Rs. 18 crore for the current financial year.
The meeting was chaired by Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia and attended by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
The Board also approved the setting up of an institute of hotel management, a school of science and maths in the Mewat region.
Mr.Pahadia appreciated the growing awareness and interest of the people of the region in developmental programmes including better health care facilities. He also commended the government's initiatives of opening medical and engineering colleges in the region. He asked the Board to further focus its attention more on the areas of education, health and social upliftment.
Mr.Hooda directed the officials to ensure timely completion of schemes and projects and also issued directions for framing a Public–Private Partnership Policy.
