Even as the report of the probe indicted the policemen responsible for the arrest of the two young girls in the Facebook case, Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil stated today that appropriate action will be taken against the officers if they are proven guilty.
Two young women were arrested on November 17, as one of them had posted, and the other had ‘liked,’ a message on Facebook , questioning the Mumbai bandh that followed Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray’s death.
In the report submitted to the state government today,Konkan range IG has stated that the action taken by Palghar cops in Facebook arrest case was wrong. “The Maharashtra government is pursuing the case seriously. I haven’t got the report yet. But I can assure you that if held guilty, the policemen will be punished,” Mr Patil said, speaking at a public event in Pune on Friday.
However, he emphasized that there needs to be a clarity in the IT laws. Referring to Azad Maidan violence in August this year he said, “Three months back, when there were riots, people came to us On Kasab’s execution Mr Patil stated that the Central government hasn’t conveyed to the state about any threat issued by terror outfit Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to strike Indian targets.
“Though the central government hasn't officially conveyed to us about any threat from any group, since the very beginning of this operation all the precautionary measures were being taken and they will be continued. The state Police is on an alert and is ready to tackle any emergency situation,” said Patil.
Mr Patil stated that anybody who chooses to attach Maharashtra will be eliminated. “Some terrorist organisations have issued threats to avenge Kasab's death. I want to tell them that if they want to come and launch an attack on Maharashtra and Mumbai, let them come. But they will be killed and buried in the soil of Maharashtra,” said Patil Mr Patil stated that Kasab’s execution was filmed for official purposes and will not be made public.
