U.P. Chief Minister-designate Akhilesh Yadav on Monday began his political journey by reaching out to the Left parties with a clear view that he was not chasing the chimera of a Third Front in politics. Mr. Yadav called on the Communist Party of India leaders at their Ajoy Bhavan office to seek their ‘blessings.'
Mr. Yadav discussed issues relating to improving Uttar Pradesh with CPI Parliamentary Party leader Gurudas Dasgupta and national secretary Shamim Faizee.
Mr. Dasgupta told The Hindu , that the CPI told Mr. Yadav about the aspirations of the working class and that the red colour of the Samajwadi Party flag also represents the struggles of the working class.
As for the Third Front, Mr. Dasgupta said the issue did not figure in his talks with Mr. Mulayam Singh or his son.
