Odisha Commission for Women chairperson Lopamudra Baxipatra on Wednesday promised the best possible treatment for the gang rape victim who is undergoing treatment in a hospital here.

She visited the corporate hospital, where the 16-year-old girl from Rayagada in Odisha was admitted on Tuesday. Her condition is stated to be critical.

Ms. Baxipatra said the Odisha government arrested all the three accused persons and promised their trial by a fast-track court.

The victim, an orphan, was raped by three persons on January 2. She was admitted to the Care Hospital here on Monday night with 80 per cent burns, after her condition turned critical following treatment in Rayagada. The victim attempted to commit self-immolation on January 3. The victim’s chances of survival are bleak, according to hospital sources.
