Surinder Koli, convicted of Nithari killings, may be hanged early Monday morning, according to sources inside Chaudhary Charan Singh district jail here.
Koli, was shifted from Dasna jail in Ghaziabad to the high-security barrack in Meerut jail on Thursday after his death warrant was issued by the CBI court. Koli’s mercy petition was rejected by the President.
While Koli was to be hanged on September 12 – and jail officials remained tight lipped about the exact date and time – sources indicated that he may be hanged at 5.30 a.m. on Monday.

Sources inside the jail told The Hindu that Pavan, the hangman, has been told to be ready for the hanging either on September 8 or 12.
A jail official, said on condition of anonymity, that Koli has been informed of his hanging. He has been “silent” and reading the Gita provided to him by the jail staff, the official added.
