Responding to criticism to his comments on “#56inchrocks” and the >cross-border raids by the Army on insurgent camps in Myanmar , Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Sunday claimed that it was an “overt operation” and not “covert” as described by the media.
“Some journalists called me saying that I should not have tweeted on chappan inch chaati . This was not a covert operation. In covert operation, soldiers don’t wear uniform. In this operation, it was overt, our soldiers were in uniform, TV journalists should know all this,” Mr. Rathore, a former Colonel said. (In military terms, operations are not classified on the basis of the uniform but on the nature of the mission.)
On the comments from Pakistan both from the civilian and military leadership, Mr. Rathore said: “Attack was somewhere else but pain was felt elsewhere. Pakistan reacted, their Prime Minister also made a statement.”
Attacking the former Pakistan President, General Pervez Musharraf, the Minister said: “Why even General Musharraf issued a threatening statement. He barely got permission to enter his own country and now he is threatening India.”
