Modi’s thinking not futuristic: Amarinder

The Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Amritsar Amarinder Singh on Saturday said BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s style of functioning and thinking were not futuristic like Rahul Gandhi’s.

“Somebody may have been a successful Chief Minister. But the style of thinking is yesteryear,” Mr. Singh said without naming Mr. Modi.

Promises tough fight Mr. Singh, who is pitted against Arun Jaitley in Amritsar, promised to give the senior BJP leader, who is fighting his maiden electoral battle, a tough fight.

“I am going to give it one hell of a fight,” he told reporters in Chandigarh in an informal talk.

He said though Mr. Jaitley, a Rajya Sabha MP, was a nice man, he had not faced an electoral battle before.

Ambika Soni to contest from Anandpur Sahib Meanwhile, announcing an additional list, Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry said the party had cleared the names of 26 candidates.

He said senior leader and former Minister Ambika Soni would contest the polls from Anandpur Sahib.
