Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday credited the BJP’s performance in the Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir elections to the “hard work and selfless dedication” of party workers.

“My congratulations to the BJP Karyakartas of Jharkhand and J&K. The results are the outcome of their hard work and selfless dedication,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

Earlier, addressing a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Party in Parliament House, he asked MPs to strengthen the party in the States and concentrate on development and good governance, and not get distracted by the Opposition.

Mr. Modi asked his colleagues to explain to people the government’s successful performance in Parliament and the Bills passed, and sought suggestions for the upcoming budget session.

He talked about the government’s programmes on December 25, being observed as Good Governance Day.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Minister of State Rajiv Pratap Rudy said: “since the BJP believes in respect for all religions, it was decided that party MPs should participate in Christmas celebrations and programmes.”
