NEW DELHI: The 2018 assembly elections in the five states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram saw over 66 lakh tweets since October 1 on Twitter.
As per the election trends released by the micro-blogging site, prime minister NarendraModi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi emerged as the most-mentioned leaders on Twitter across the country, followed by Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Telangana IT minister K T R Rao emerged as the most-mentioned candidates on Twitter India.
Mahima Kaul, Head of Public Policy & Government, Twitter India, said, “Twitter is where political conversations happen and where you can see all sides of the public conversation… With more than 66 lakh Tweets related to the State Elections, these were amongst the most Tweeted-about Indian state elections on Twitter so far.”
Top five conversations topics between October 1 and December 11, 2018 were rural economy, religion and caste, EVM and vote tampering, dynastic politics and corruption.
