Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has once again beaten his counterparts in the virtual world. After emerging as the most searched Indian politician on Google in 2013, the BJP leader has now topped the list of most searched Chief Minister in the country. Internet search giant Google on Wednesday released trends on Chief Ministers of India.
According to the trends, which took into account searches made for a period of three months from December 14 to March 13 this year, Mr. Modi was the most popular Chief Minister among Internet users in the country.
Two women politicians made it to the top five list — Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa was at number 2 and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at number 4. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was at number 3 while Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was the fifth most searched CM.
The other most searched Chief Ministers on Google were Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh), Vasundhara Raje (Rajasthan), Tarun Gogoi (Assam), Omar Abdullah (J&K) and Oommen Chandy (Kerala).
Google also listed the names of the top five most searched CMs from within the Congress — Tarun Gogoi (Assam), Oommen Chandy (Kerala), Bhupinder Singh Hooda (Haryana), Virbhadra Singh (Himachal Pradesh) and Harish Rawat (Uttarakhand).
As for the BJP, the top five most searched CMs were Narendra Modi, Vasundhara Raje, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Manohar Parrikar (Goa) and Raman Singh (Chhattisgarh).
