MUMBAI: A day after the BJP asked former ally Shiv Sena to decide who its real enemy was, the Sena again lashed out at BJP through its mouthpiece 'Saamna'. "Narendra Modi has been giving new promises every day during his rallies in the State. But he is doing it, leaving aside his responsibilities at the Centre. The people of Maharashtra want to know what he has done for the State after becoming the Prime Minister?" a vitriolic editorial in Saamna asked on Tuesday.
It also hinted that 'super-star BJP campaigner Mr Modi was denting the dignity of the prime ministerial office by holding such rallies. "Holding so many rallies at this juncture does not suit his stature," it said.
The editorial added that the same party had once criticised Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi for the "misuse of state machinery to hold such extensive rallies."
"They had only burdened the State exchequer. Now, if the BJP thinks there is such a great Modi-wave, it should only issue a memorandum in his name for the people of Maharashtra instead of making him criss-cross the State for holding rallies," the editorial said.
Replying to BJP's call to decide who its real enemy was, the editorial said that Sena will fight all those who have back-stabbed Maharashtra.
It also chided the national party for failing to raise issues close to the Marathi hearts. "Why don't they talk of Marathi asmita or unified Maharashtra? Why don't they raise the issue of Belgaum (Maharashtra-Karnataka border row)?" it asked.
