One militant was killed and four CRPF personnel were injured in two separate incidents of militancy in Kashmir on Thursday.
A police official said that the militants hurled a grenade in the afternoon on the security forces’ deployment at Goriwan, Bijbehara in Anantnag.
“Four security force personnel of the CRPF sustained injuries. They were evacuated to hospital. All of them are stated to be stable now,” said the police.
In a separate operation, the Army killed an unidentified militant in an encounter at Handwara in Kupwara district.
An official said that a joint team of Army’s 21 Rashtriya Rifles, the police’s Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force launched a search operation in Sodal check Magam forest area.
“A gunfight broke out following the intensified searches by the joint team forces in the area. One militant was killed,” said a police official.
A police spokesman said militants on Thursday evening barged into a guard post at Bona Bazar in Shopian and “managed to flee with four rifles”.
“A search operation is under way in the nearby areas. The circumstances leading to the incident is being ascertained. The initial probe suggests the complicity of the Hizbul Mujahideen in the incident,” said the police.
