Maneka wades into Dadri row

Accuses U.P. govt. of victimising two youths

October 10, 2015 02:38 am | Updated 02:38 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Union Minister for Women and Child Development and MP from Uttar Pradesh Maneka Gandhi added fresh fire to the Dadri lynching case by castigating the State police and the administration for framing the “wrong people” for the crime.

She said the U.P. police were politicising the incident where Mohammad Akhlaq, a resident of Bishara village, was lynched on suspicion of storing beef in his home.

“The U.P. government is manipulating the event. I know the two youths, who they are accusing of having committed the crime. They have nothing to do with it. The incompetence of the U.P. police and the efforts made by the U.P. government in misleading the people is highly condemnable,” she said.
