Mamata, Jagan must return to Cong.: Jogi

‘To take on the ongoing fascist onslaught by right-wing forces’

January 04, 2015 01:50 am | Updated 01:50 am IST - Raipur:

Ajit Jogi, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, said here on Saturday that old Congress hands like West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee and YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy should return to the party to take on the ongoing “fascist onslaught” by right-wing forces on the democratic fabric of the country.

Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Jogi said, “Just like the efforts of socialist parties [Janata Parivar] which came together, time has come for all political powers who were once associated with the Congress to look at the challenges our nation is facing from fascist and communal forces and to come under one umbrella with the Congress.”

He added, “Those who were once a part of the Congress, like Mamata Bannerjee, Jagan Mohan Reddy and the NCP, and who left us for reasons which are no more relevant and which are forgotten and forgiven, should come together now. All of us make a strong group of 100 MPs.”
