Union Minister for Corporate Affairs M. Veerappa Moily on Sunday said the revised Lokpal Bill would be passed during the winter session of Parliament.
The Bill, which would include the key points raised by social activist Anna Hazare, has to be given a final shape by the department-related Standing Committee after perusing the draft, Mr. Moily told journalists on the sidelines of the graduation day of the SJC Institute of Technology here.
Team Anna gave the list of the key points to the government only three days before they were discussed in Parliament. The matter could have been resolved much earlier, had the team apprised the government of the demands in advance, he said, while emphasising that neither the Congress nor the Centre were against them.
To a query, Mr. Moily said the absence of United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who is abroad, had not made much difference in handling the issue as she was in touch with top functionaries of the government on important issues on a day-to-day basis.
Corporate corruption
The Minister said the Centre was keen on curbing corporate corruption too and was planning to come out with a Bill in this regard. The process was in the initial stages, he added.
