Modi addresses nation on 'Mann ki Baat'

Prime Minister Narendra is addressing the nation on his bi-monthly radio programme 'Mann ki Baat'. The Election Commission had said that while no blanket ban could be imposed on the programme, it would take action if parts of the programme were found to be in violation of the model code of conduct now in place in Bihar.

Earlier, the Prime Minister tweeted: "#MannKiBaat at 11AM today. Looking forward interacting with you through the radio."

10:40 am: On Tuesday, the Prime Minister took to Twitter to ask his followers to share their message by dialling 1800-3000-7800. He said some of it would be part of today's programme.

Organ donation

11.00 a.m. PM Modi speaks about organ donation and how students spread awareness through symbolic messages in the country.

11.02 a.m. Organ donation is very important in this country. Only 5,000 successful transplants are done every year.

11.02 a.m. Every year we need atleast 1 lakh eyes.

11.03 a.m. Many accidents occur everyday and people are in need of organs every now and then. Today I can say that Tamil Nadu is in the forefront in organ donation.

11.04 a.m. A national helpline is also available for the same. Few days ago we saw how a liver transplant saved a life.

India-Africa foreign summit

11.05 a.m. India-Africa foreign summit is all set to happen in New Delhi. Africa and India have a similar number of population.

11.06 a.m. India and Africa are similar in many ways. Indian-African ties are developing fiercely. 25,000 African students are studying in India and this summit will be an important one for the future.

11.07 a.m. Mahatma Gandhi had a good influence on the same, says PM Modi.

11.08 a.m. PM Modi reads excerpts from a poem by one Garima Gupta from Uttar Pradesh where Gandhiji's methods towards diplomacy were mentioned.

11.10 a.m. "Peoples of these two countries can develop ties for a better future," he added.

Swachh Bharat

11.14 a.m. Mr. Modi speaks about how Swachh Bharat initiative can help the country. An audio message from one Savitha Rai from Mumbai says about how India work towards cleanliness.

11.16 a.m. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have taken initiatives for the Clean India mission.

11.17 a.m. Many initiatives by media houses have spread awareness about this mission to the poople of this country.

11.18 a.m. PM reads out a letter from Meghalaya which mentions that a village received an award for cleanliness and has been at it for the past few years.

Employment opportunities

11.19 a.m. The PM speaks about employment issues.

11.20 a.m. From Jan 1, 2016, interviews for lower posts won't be necessary. This has been implemented. There will be no requirement of interview for Group D, C and B posts in central govt.

Gold assets

11.21 a.m. I'm happy that whatever was promised on budget will be implemented soon.

11.22 a.m. Citizens can start saving their assets with gold. Sovereign gold bonds will be more beneficial for bank customers. Hereafter gold will be secure in your banks.

11.24 a.m. I believe that this will bring more happiness to the people of India.

Unity in diversity

11.25 a.m. Unity should be our medium. Unity in diversity is our country's pride. Sardar Valbhbhai Patel made great efforts towards unity.

11.26 a.m. Run for Unity is all set to happen on October 31.

Diwali wishes

11.26 a.m. My hearty wishes to you all on the occassion of Diwali. Have a safe and happy Diwali. I will be visiting Britain.

11.27 a.m. Let's work towards Babasaheb Ambedkar's mission.

11.29 a.m. Let's live and strive towards the development of this country. Let's encourage students from tribal and backward communities.
