‘Let CBI probe U.P. encounters’

Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council Ramesh Yadav on Tuesday recommended that the State government conduct a CBI probe into the recent fake encounters in Noida and Mathura. He said this while accepting the demands of the Samajwadi Party (SP), which alleged that the Yogi Adityanath government was conducting fake encounters.

So far, 38 persons have been shot dead and more than 235 injured in alleged encounters since the Adityanath government took over last March.

In a notice signed by six of its MLCs, the SP cited cases in Mathura and Noida to accuse the BJP government of fake encounters.

BJP deputy leader in the Legislative Council Yagyadutt Sharma said there was no need for a CBI inquiry.
