Several members of Parliament from the Left staged a protest outside the Parliament House here on Tuesday, taking up the issue of rising intolerance in the country.

Led by CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and senior CPI leader D. Raja and others, the parliamentarians held placards with slogans that read ‘Down down communalism’ and “Rising intolerance in the country’.

Earlier on Monday, the Lok Sabha saw several adjournments as members of the opposition created ruckus in the house over the issue that has provoked many writers, intellectuals, actors and artists to return their honours and medals to the government.
