Youth Congress State president Dean Kuriakose submitted before the Kerala High Court on Friday that he was ignorant of an earlier court order that stipulated a seven-day notice was required for calling hartals.

Mr. Kuriakose made the submission before a Division Bench of the court headed by Chief Justice Hrishikesh Roy.

Besides the Youth Congress leader, United Democratic Front (UDF) Kasaragod district chairman M.C. Kamarudheen and convener M. Govindan Nair appeared before the court on Friday in a suo motu contempt of court proceedings initiated by the court.

The three were asked to file detailed statements in the case before March 5. The State police had earlier submitted a statement detailing the loss suffered in the hartal. The case has been posted for March 6.
