Woman, son killed in accident

A road accident near Thalassery in the early hours of Tuesday claimed the lives of a woman and her son as the car they were travelling in was hit by a lorry in a head-on collision.

The deceased has been identified as A.K. Sindhu (45) and her son Vishnu Kumar (24), an engineering graduate. They were residents of Puthiyatheru here.

The driver of the car, identified as C. Baburaj (45), a family friend of the deceased, suffered serious injuries in the accident and has been admitted to the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital.

The accident occurred on the National Highway at Konarvayal near Thalassery at around 2 a.m. as they were returning home from Guruvayur where they had gone to offer prayers at the Sri Krishna temple.
