Woman run over by car

A pedestrian Sarojini, 85, was killed on the spot when a luxury car knocked her down at Panachavila junction, near Anchal, at about 7.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Aneesh 32, a faculty member of the Politics Department of the University College, Thiruvananthapuram, was also knocked down by the same car. He has been admitted to a private hospital at Thiruvananthapuram in a critical condition. It was an Audi car which was involved in the accident, the police said.

Soon after the accident, the driver of the car and another person travelling in it, parked and locked the car by the roadside and managed to escape. The police said that the car was owned by a Punalur-based businessman. The Anchal police have registered a case.
