St. Mary’s College at Sulthan Bathery in the district will host the Calicut University Inter-zone Arts Festival, from May 1 to 5. Writer Harris Nenmeni will inaugurate the off-stage events at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
Journalist Abhilash Mohan will inaugurate the stage events at 4 p.m. on Friday, the organisers said in a release here.
Minister for Higher Education K.T. Jaleel will inaugurate the concluding ceremony of the five- day programme at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
436 colleges
Close to 5,000 students from 436 colleges in six zones under the university will compete in 106 events, including 62 stage events, on five stages. The festival this year is titled ‘Wayanart-2019’ and the stages have been named as Abhimanyu Nagar, Vemula Nagar, Gauri Lankesh Nagar, Govind Pansare Nagar, and Kalburgi Nagar. Apart from the participants of Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts in the State, participants from Lakshadweep will take part. This is the first time that Sulthan Bathery is hosting the festival.
