VS dares Mani to present budget

January 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - KOLLAM:

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan on Wednesday said the Left Democratic Front would not allow Finance Minister K.M. Mani, who is facing bribery allegations, to present the State Budget in the Assembly.

“LDF workers and people of the State will lay siege to the Assembly to prevent Mr. Mani from presenting the Budget,” he said.

Mr. Achuthanandan was addressing a public meeting organised at the Asramam maidan here in connection with the conclusion of the three-day district conference of the CPI(M).

He called upon the people to lay siege to the Assembly if Mr. Mani was adamant on presenting the budget. He challenged Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Mr. Mani to defy the people and enter the Assembly to present the Budget. Mr. Achuthanandan said the UDF government, which has become a liability to the State, was offering all support to the Modi government.
