KDF cautions RSS against quota

October 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - KOLLAM:

The Kerala Dalit Federation (KDF) has warned the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) against engaging in moves to upset the existing reservation structure.

At a press conference here on Friday, KDF State president P. Ramabhadran said that Dalits in the country would not stand a mute spectator if the RSS made any such move. He said that reservation was oxygen for the Dalits. ‘‘The entry of Dalits into sectors that are not covered by reservation was being torpedoed through machinations by the administration and most political parties,’’ he said.

Those who spread red carpets for corporate house should understand the fact that the only avenue through which Dalit communities had made some progress was reservation, he said.

‘‘The desire of some sections to destroy reservation to Dalits by amending the Constitution will only remain a pipedream,’’ he said. — Special Correspondent
