Boys continue to sweep ranks in KEAM entrance exams

In line with the general trend, boys continued to outshine girls by sweeping the engineering ranks, securing 89 out of the top 100 ranks in the Kerala Engineering, Architecture, Medical (KEAM) entrance examinations 2019.

Vishnu Vinod of Anakkara in Idukki bagged the top position in the engineering entrance examination by securing a score of 584.91. Gautham Govind A. of Kottayam and Jharkhand native Aquib Nawaz occupied the second and the third positions respectively. All of the top 10 ranks went to boys.

The KEAM 2019 results were announced by Higher Education Minister K.T. Jaleel here on Monday.

While a total of 73,437 candidates had appeared for the examination, 51,667 qualified and 45,597 were included in the rank list. Of those who figured in the first 5000 ranks, as many as 2341 candidates, including the top two rankers, had completed the Plus Two level in the Kerala State syllabus, while 2464 were students of the CBSE stream.

According to Dr. Jaleel, there has been a steady increase in the number of top-rankers who had completed schooling under the State syllabus. Among the top 100 rankers, 18 are from Kozhikode, 15 from Ernakulam and 15 from Kottayam.

Adwaith Krishna R. (General list rank – 185) of Kollam and Sukanya L. (6370) of Kasaragod topped the rankings in the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes categories respectively.

Architecture

The architecture rank list, based on the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA - 2019) scores, and pharmacy rank list were also released as part of the KEAM results. Alice Maria Chungath of Thrissur, Ansha Mathew of Kannur and Gaurav R. Chandran of Vadodara occupied the top three positions in the architecture rank list.

Among the pharmacy course aspirants, Naveen Vincent of Kollam, Nidha Nisma M.K. of Malappuram and Rohith K. of Malappuram figured in the top three ranks.

Commissioner for Entrance Examinations A. Geetha said that the notification for the allotment process to engineering courses would be published on Tuesday. The new academic year would commence on July 15.
