Clear lead in both UP, high school categories

Vengara sub-district cruised ahead of 16 other sub-districts when the district school arts festival entered its fourth day on Wednesday. With one more day to go, Vengara, with the invincible presence of PKMM Higher Secondary School, appeared poised to lift the district school championship.

In both high school and UP category, Vengara has taken clear lead. When Mankada is giving a chase for Vengara in the second position in UP category, Edappal is in the second position in high school category. In higher secondary, Vengara and Malappuram are in a neck and neck race.

Hafiz Mohammed Hallaj from Madin HSS, Malappuram, who won the first prize in the State festival last year in Quran recitation (HS), made it to the State-level this time too.

C.V. Sijit from MSP HSS, Malappuram, is out to retrieve what his elder brother lost in Sanskrit elocution in the State fest. Sijit’s brother had won the second prize last year in the State festival.

In Mohiniyattom (HS), Athira K. Raj from NSSEMHS, Tirur, won the first prize and P.K. Anagha from GBHSS, Manjeri, won the second prize.

In folk dance (HS boys), K.S. Sreejith from GHSS, Kunnakkavu, won the first prize and C.T. Ajayaraj from GHSS, Pandikkad, won the second prize. They also won the first and second prizes in Bharatanatyam.

In Oppana (HS girls), A.K. Shahana and team from PKMMHSS, Edarikode, won the first prize and M. Pournami and team from AKMHSS, Kottoor, won the second prize.

In drama (HS), T.S. Anjali and team from SNMHSS, Parappanangadi won the first prize. K.P. Mohammed Jamsheer and team from PKMMHSS, Edarikode, and P.A. Dilbar and team from ISSHSS, Ezhuvathiruthy, shared the second prize.

In Kuchipudi (HS), K.P. Amrita from MSPHSS, Malappuram, won the first prize when N. Gayatri from RMHS, Melattur, won the second prize.

In Oppana (HSS girls), M. Anshira and team from AKMHSS, Kottur, won the first prize. R.M. Abhirami and team from PKMMHSS, Edarikode, and A.M. Dilsha and team from ARHSS for Girls, Pavitaapuram, shared the second prize.

In folk song (HSS), P. Nimitha from GRHS, Kottakkal, won the first prize when M. Agith from CHMHS, Pookolathur, won the second prize.

In Mapilapattu (HSS girls), Sulfa Kelamthodika from GGHSS, Manjeri, won the first prize when C.M. Hannah from GGVHSS, Wandoor, and K. Sahla Yasmin from AKMHSS, Kottur, shared the second prize.

In Mapilapattu (HSS boys), P.K. Naseeb from GMVHSS, Nilambur, won the first prize when P. Mohammed Ajmal from DUHS, Panakkad, won the second prize.
