Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has said that a multi-pronged political conspiracy is at work behind all the recent allegations levelled against him.

‘‘Heartburns over the SNDP Yogam’s committed agenda to take the lead in floating a political party with the aim of serving the interests of the majority communities in the State have triggered the conspiracy,’’ he said while addressing a meet-the-press programme organised by the Kollam Press Club here on Tuesday.

‘‘If this is the situation now, imagine the situation when we finally float a political party,’’ Mr. Natesan said. He said he was in favour of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of Saswatikananda Swami. ‘‘My belief is that the Swami got caught in an undercurrent and drowned,’’ he said.

He said the barrage of allegations being fired against him and the SNDP Yogam had only served to catapult the Yogam and its political agenda into the limelight like never before. ‘‘It is immaterial whether Nair Service Society (NSS) general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair is going to be involved or not. The moot point is that a majority of the NSS members and the Nair community desire such a party,’’ he said.

When asked about the allegations made by Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan that bribes were being taken for all appointments made to institutions under the management of the S.N. Trust, Mr. Natesan said: ‘‘we have never asked for any bribes, we only take monetary contributions.’’ ,’’ he said.
