V. S. Achuthanandan hospitalised

Marked deterioration in his condition on Sunday: personal physician

Former Chief Minister and Kerala Administrative Reforms Commission chairperson V.S. Achuthanandan has been admitted to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram following sharp variations in his blood pressure and breathlessness.

According to Dr. C. Bharat Chandran, his personal physician and cardiologist, Mr. Achuthanandan had been experiencing sharp variations in his blood pressure over the past two days and there was a marked deterioration in his condition on Sunday morning. “I decided to have him admitted as he had breathing trouble as a result of an old bronchial problem. Now his condition is stable and he will be moved out of the intensive care unit tonight,” Dr. Bharat Chandran told The Hindu .

He said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had called over the phone to enquire about Mr. Achuthanandan’s health status immediately after he was admitted to the hospital.
