Union Minister of State for Tourism and Information Technology K.J. Alphons has asked the youth to use social media judiciously.
Inaugurating a Statelevel workshop on Vikaspedia, the online portal under the Union Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Mr. Alphons said on Wednesday that social media, though powerful, would be dangerous, if it was not used judiciously.
Many a time antisocial elements were creating fake news and spreading it through social media unmindful of its impact, Mr. Alphons said. Even forwarding such news was illegal.
Kerala State IT Mission director Sreeram Sambasiva Rao inaugurated the pilot centres of the Vikaspedia on that occasion. Vikaspedia project director M. Jagadeesh described the functioning of the portal on the occasion.
