UDF releases manifesto for Kannur Corporation

The United Democratic Front (UDF) released its election manifesto for the Kannur Corporation here on Wednesday.

Releasing the manifesto at a press conference here, District Congress Committee president K. Surendran said that the manifesto promises several developmental and infrastructural projects for the new Corporation.

He said that all the major roads in the Corporation area will be turned into macadam roads. If the UDF is elected, the Corporation will introduce a free round-the-clock ambulance service. Kannur will be a free Wi-Fi city, he added.

The manifesto says that the Jawahar Stadium here will be renovated into a facility with international standards. The new building for the Corporation will have state-of-the-art facilities to ensure round-the-clock services to the people.

The other promises in the manifesto include a bicycle path along the Payyambalam beach, a treatment plant at Paddannappalam, free career guidance centre, a mechanism to co-ordinate residents’ associations and measures to make Kannur a clean and green city, among others.

A.P. Abdullakutty, MLA, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Satheeshan Pacheni, Congress leaders T.O. Mohanan, K. Pramod and Suresh Babu Elayavur were also present.
