UDF, bar owners in collusion: CPI(M)

November 09, 2014 02:18 am | Updated November 16, 2021 05:41 pm IST - Kozhikode:

Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has alleged that the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government and bar owners have colluded to hoodwink the public on the corruption charges against the Finance Minister.

Mr. Vijayan told journalists here on Saturday that the government was playing hide-and-seek by supporting the bar owners over the bribery charges. The corruption behind the episode should be brought to light.

Donations and bribes

Donations and bribes were different things. Now people were being made to believe that both were the same. The CPI (M) had not taken money from anyone, he added.

He also reiterated the stand of his party on the formation a court-monitored special investigation team to look into the allegations.

The role of the Chief Minister, the Finance Minister, and the Excise Minister should be thoroughly probed, he added.

Mr. Vijayan said that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy should resign since the government-appointed judicial commission had decided to probe his role in the solar scandal.
