Police confiscate vehicle after chase

The police chased and recovered a taxi car that was stolen by two persons after attacking the driver, at Alagappa Nagar here early on Tuesday.

However, the thieves managed to escape. The driver, Rajesh of Mannampetta, is admitted to a hospital with head injuries.

Two persons rented a Uber taxi from the KSRTC bus stand in Thrissur to Puthukkad. When they reached Puthukkad, the passengers asked the driver to take them to Amballur as they could not contact the person whom they wanted to meet.

When they reached Alagappa Nagar, the two attacked the driver. One person tried to spray something on Rajesh’s face and the other attacked him on his head.

They threatened him at knifepoint and asked him to get out of the car and they fled the scene in the stolen car.

Rajesh sought the help of the police, who took him to the hospital.

Thieves escape

As the police alerted the control room, a Highway Police team on duty at Koratty chased the stolen car and stopped it at Kalady. But the two thieves fled from the spot.
