Two youths were killed in two separate accidents reported from Kottayam on Sunday.

In the first incident, K.S. Ananthu (18) was killed when the autorickshaw he was riding hit a truck on the Ettumanoor-Manarkadu Bypass on Sunday afternoon. Ananthu Sajimon, 15, who had been travelling in the same three-wheeler, sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to private hospital here.

The front portion of the autorickshaw was completely damaged in the impact of the collision and the youths could be rescued from the remains only by cutting open a portion of it.

In the second incident, a youth was killed when his two-wheeler rammed a pick-up van near Pravithanam on the Pala-Thodupuzha stretch.

The deceased was identified as Ouseppachan, a first year polytechnic student in Pala.

The body was shifted to the General Hospital in Pala.
