Two persons have been arrested by the Chengannur police in connection with the death of Ajith, the college student whose body was found on the railway tracks at Cheriyanadu near Chengannur earlier this week.

According to Chengannur Circle Inspector R. Jose, Sarin Chandra, 24, and Dan John, 25, both natives of Thiruvalla in Pathanamthitta district, were arrested on Saturday after the police found that they had allegedly forcibly taken Ajith on their car on the day of his death.

Police said Ajith was maintaining a close relationship with a former guest lecturer in his college, who happened to be a relative of Sarin.

Ajith was reportedly warned to keep away from her, and last week too, Sarin and Dan had taken him on their car, which is now in police custody, to repeat the warning. However, according to their statements, Ajith escaped from the car and was running along the railway track thinking that they were chasing him. He reportedly did not hear the train and was run over, police said.

Mr. Jose said Sarin and Dan had been charged for unintentional murder and kidnap among other charges. The two were produced before the court and remanded.
