The police have arrested a couple in connection with the murder of an estate owner and his helper at Naduppara, near Chinnakanal, on Sunday.

The arrested are Santhanpara Karuppan colony resident Isavel and his wife Kapila. The police said the couple allowed Bobin to stay at their house after committing the crime.

They also assisted him in purchasing a SIM card in addition to admitting him to a hospital.

It is believed that he suffered injuries in a scuffle at the estate resort. The owner of the estate Jacob Varghese was shot dead and his helper Muthayya was killed using a sharp-edged weapon.

Bobin had joined the estate as supervisor only two days ago. He escaped in a car used by Varghese after stealing two sacks of cardamom from the storeroom.

The vehicle was later found abandoned near Murickassery.

The arrested confessed to the police that they received ₹25,000 from Bobin for giving him shelter and helping him get hospital aid.

A special squad had been constituted for nabbing Bobin.
