Truth should come out: Dileep

Actor Dileep said that he wants the truth behind the abduction and harassment of a female actor to be exposed.

He was talking to mediapersons outside his residence before leaving for the general body meeting of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).

Mr. Dileep said he had given a detailed statement to the police in connection with his petition of attempt to blackmail him by threatening to implicate him in the abduction case. He said that he was in a haze and nothing was clear to him.

He said that both (he and the female actor) were members of AMMA and both were suffering. Asked about the long hours taken to complete the interrogation, Mr. Dileep said that it was natural as the police had to take the statement of three persons.

Later, a slew of actors spoke to the media outside the venue of the AMMA meeting.

AMMA vice president K.B. Ganesh Kumar said that registering a case on the petition of Dileep was the prerogative of the police. He was confident that the victim would get justice since an able officer such as ADGP B. Sandhya was heading the investigation.

Actor and a prominent player of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) Remya Nambeesan said that WCC was no alternative to AMMA but an association with a gender perspective. She said that AMMA’s response to the WCC was very positive.

Emerging out of the general body meeting, actor Rima Kallingal and another prominent votary of WCC said that the issue of abduction of actor was not discussed at the meeting. AMMA had extended full support to the WCC, she said.
