Train drags body for 10 km in Alappuzha

A train dragged the body of a man for over 10 km after he is said to have jumped in front of it to commit suicide here on Tuesday.

Officials said the body of Sreekumar, 53, of Ambalappuzha, was trapped in front of the engine of the Rajdhani Express after he jumped in front of the train at Mararikulam. Only the torso remained when the train reached the Alappuzha railway station, where Railway Protection Force officials and others at the station noticed the body.

The body was shifted to the morgue of the Government Medical College Hospital, Alappuzha, where a post-mortem was conducted.
