‘In this term the LDF govt. has given ₹1,265 crore for its development’

The State government is committed to maintaining the Sabarimala temple with all its magnificence, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

He was speaking at a Left Democratic Front (LDF) election rally at Ottapunna in the Aroor Assembly constituency on Thursday.

“The previous United Democratic Front (UDF) government had spent ₹216 crore in five years for the development of Sabarimala. In the first three-and-a-half years of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government, we have given ₹1,265 crore. Projects worth another ₹300 crore are on the anvil,” Mr. Vijayan said.

Airport project

The Chief Minister added that the government had started the work to materialise the Sabarimala airport project.

Stating that the State made big strides in infrastructure development and in other sectors, Mr. Vijayan said that the LDF’s victory in the Chengannur and Pala Assembly byelection would be repeated in the coming bypolls to five Assembly seats in the State.

“The popularity of the Left front has increased. This will be reflected in the byelections. Kerala has become a model to other States under the LDF rule. The State is leading from the front in health, public education, national highway development, governance and law and order,” he added.

The Chief Minister said that the country was facing serious economic crisis.

“All the public enterprises are on the verge of collapse. The policies of both the present BJP government and previous Congress governments are responsible for the financial crisis,” Mr. Vijayan said.
