The operations at the Tokkuttu railway station came to an end on Wednesday.

Tokkuttu, serving as a satellite railway station south of Mangaluru Central, has become part of history with the railway authorities deciding to wind up the station with effect from Wednesday.

The station close to the Netravati bridge had been a boon to hundreds of passengers from northern Kerala visiting hospitals, educational institutions and nearby destinations. The decision is bound to cause a great deal of inconvenience to passengers, who should now travel to Mangaluru to return to the respective destination.

Following the move, the 56661 Charvattur-Mangaluru Central service and the 56656 Mangaluru-Kannur passenger will not stop at the station, a release here said.
