Minister Shibu Baby John has said that those who are sincere to the ideologies of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) should leave the Left Democratic Front (LDF).
Speaking to reporters at the K.C.S. Mani Memorial at Ambalappuzha here on Saturday, Mr. John said the significance of the RSP had started waning from the day its founding leader N. Sreekandan Nair had left the RSP, way back in the early 80s. The RSP, as part of its efforts to strengthen Left unity, had stuck to the LDF, only to find itself as a feeder organisation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and losing its political significance, he said.
Mr. John said he would make efforts to hold talks with labourers, labour unions and their leaders to do away with unhealthy practices such as ‘nokkukooli' (pay for no work). Unnecessary strikes like the one on Friday would have to be avoided to uphold working class principles.
Earlier, Mr. John paid floral tributes at a memorial of Sreekandan Nair at his house near Ambalappuzha before proceeding to pay his tributes to Mani before his statue in the town. He spent some time with Lalitha, Mani's wife, and sought her blessings for his new calling.
